really sweet winter outfit from Anywho
While Frida Kahlo had opportunities to love and be loved, she clung to the belief that only Diego Rivera held the power to give her a sense of self worth. He also represented the one who she could not have, and to win the impossible would make her extraordinary. This was the driving force behind Kahlo's pursuit of Rivera. Despite knowing better, she persisted and struggled and remained frustrated.
"If I loved a woman, the more I loved her, the more I wanted to hurt her. Frida was only the most obvious victim of this disgusting quality." - Rivera
I just spent a good hour at the library reading about this brilliant tormented woman. She was stricken with polio as a child, got into a terrible bus accident that required her to have numerous operations. Her famous husband, the love her life and bain of her existence had an affair with her sister, the one with the emerald eyes. She attempted suicide twice and led a life full of struggle and self reflection.
I need to watch Frida with Salma Hayek now!!
April 2, 1954: A couple is photographed moments after learning that their 19-month-old child had been swept out to sea at Hermosa Beach. That morning, Times photographer Jack Gaunt was at his beachfront home when he heard a neighbor shout, “Something’s happening on the beach!” Gaunt grabbed his Rolliflex camera and headed toward the shoreline. His photograph appeared on the front page of The Times the next day. The image won the 1955 Pulitzer Prize for press photography; the Pulitzer committee called the photo “poignant and profoundly moving.” But for Gaunt, the image was hard to bear at first, his daughter recalled in Gaunt’s 2007 Times obituary.
Thirteen hits of weed and my minds lost in space
Words float away from my mouth
Empty and stale like an opened bag of chips
Art will help
but I end up drawing a huge flower with octopus vines
"Fuckin' stoner", I tell myself
The girl next to me is learning Chinese
I can't even produce a full sentence in English
We take a cab back to my house at an unknown hour
whisky and beer swish swish swish in my belly
He says 'I forgot my keys back there"
I say "Oh well.. I guess you can sleep over
but we are just going to sleep okay?"
The inability to say no
creates awful situations
That god damn boy kept me up all night
taking over the bed
ruining my heavenly den
ugly body and forceful gestures
I kept my panties on
wondering where all the gentlemen of the world got lost
probably some deserted island
far away from this filthy city of horn dogs
