Frida Kahlo 1907 -1954

While Frida Kahlo had opportunities to love and be loved, she clung to the belief that only Diego Rivera held the power to give her a sense of self worth. He also represented the one who she could not have, and to win the impossible would make her extraordinary. This was the driving force behind Kahlo's pursuit of Rivera. Despite knowing better, she persisted and struggled and remained frustrated.

"If I loved a woman, the more I loved her, the more I wanted to hurt her. Frida was only the most obvious victim of this disgusting quality." - Rivera

I just spent a good hour at the library reading about this brilliant tormented woman. She was stricken with polio as a child, got into a terrible bus accident that required her to have numerous operations. Her famous husband, the love her life and bain of her existence had an affair with her sister, the one with the emerald eyes. She attempted suicide twice and led a life full of struggle and self reflection.

I need to watch Frida with Salma Hayek now!!
